Daily Office Lectionary App revisa

I use this app every day!!! Unfortunately today the Lectionary Index is not displaying today. Looks like app was updated yesterday which might have caused this problem. Also saw in the comments that this has happened before. 🥺 Thanks for the tip. I deleted the app & reinstalled it, and it worked fine after that!!!

Thanks for your good work on this app, but unfortunately, I'm having trouble having it load

The layout, looking like a book, is somewhat eclectic and goofy… and the default font is just plain silly… but the content is all there and correct, and that is what matters. I was specifically looking for a lectionary app that showed the prescribed readings for each day, WITHOUT taking into account special readings for feast days. That way, on a feast day, I can read the special reading AND the standard one so as not to lose track of the ongoing narrative. My only suggestion for this app is to include the 30-day psalm cycle as an option (plleeeeaaaase?) — it’s in the prayer book, and I think a lot of us work pray the daily office use that cycle and not the more common 7 week one.

I downloaded app and opened it. Screen said earl t an update or data refresh. Screen said do not close app until download is complete and daily reading is displayed. Tapped START and when download finished The app did not display anything. iPad home screen appeared. Trying to open the app briefly displays a front prayer book then return to IPad home screen. I deleted the app and reinstalled several times with the same result.

This new version is not as good. It no longer the ESV. Don’t know what version it is now. Missing also is the option to have it read to you. Just not as good as it was.

I really enjoy this app but I do have one question for you. I like to read the Lectionary before going to sleep. How do I change the color of the screen to black? Thank you

This is the best of its kind. It really is. I also really enjoy being able to choose my own font. Thank you for this wonderful resource which enriches my Bible reading.

This is unquestionably the best lectionary app for iOS! The service provided by Jim Coates is quick and personal. Within a couple of hours after my email was sent Jim was responding with help. The app is intuitive to use and allows for some customization in the font choice and size of the font. My only request for improvement is to allow for font color and background color. Also, why not create an app with the entire Book of Common Prayer? We would pay handsomely for such an app. I have about 6 different lectionary apps and this is my favorite! Thanks Jim for your service!

This app is a great resource for your walk with God. It just works. It is laid out well and doesn’t get in the way of reading. Preferences for reading version (NKJV and NRSV) as well as type face and size are easy to use. Recently I had occasion to get in touch with Jim with a question and he got back to me quickly even though, as it turned out, he was on a trip to the Holy Land. I highly recommend this app.

This app is excellent. It makes it incredibly easy to access the daily offices. When I had a problem with a program glitch Jim Coates responded personally even though he was out of the country. He also let me know when he had fixed and updated the app. That is service above and beyond!

So many features, like the ability to select a date, and best of all it’s accessible without a Wi-Fi connection so you read anywhere at anytime. Been my go-to for several years now.

I have been using this app for several years and it is very well thought out. In addition the author responded very quickly to an issue with reinstalling.

The Daily Office is part of my routine, and Jim Coates’ app is a perfect fit with my BCP. It’s especially helpful because we travel a lot. While I have other daily reading apps, this one suits me best, and I missed it when it was down for a few weeks.

The low reviews must have been people who were caught between updates, and never reached out to ask for help. Great communication from the developer, and phenomenal resource for both personal and pastoral use!! Love the NRSV option, and other features! It’s great help to always have it open on the current date, yet make every other day viewable as well!

Doesn’t work. Others have described the loading problem.

Unfortunately this app does not load. It simply crashes. Disappointing since I wanted to use it.....

Readings for current year beginning Advent 2018 have not been written. Don’t waste your time with this.

I love this app and use it daily, so I am disappointed that it will not open after the most recent update.

The new calendar year did not load. I uninstalled and reinstalled but Year 3 does not complete. Is there a fix available?

Love the app, have used it for years. Now it tries to download the database and then just quits. Is there a fix?

This Version of the lectionary is an excellent resource and support for daily prayer and reflection.

After installing the latest update and instructing it to install the database, I have nothing. The installation bar moves across, then the app closes itself, & that’s all that happens. When I reopen it, it says it needs to install the database, & the same thing happens again (& again & again). Love the app, just need it to work.

Do not waste your money on this. Nothing but blank pages.

I went looking for an app that would just give me the BCP readings. This app goes far beyond that! I am astounded that for only $2 I have all of the readings at my fingertips — in two different translations! This is obviously a work of love by its developer. Bless you, Jim!

This might be ok but the index doesn't download so I can't find the dates. Also, I see only psalms. I thought I was getting all the readings. Can anyone help me? (Please continue to read for update.) Hopefully this will encourage anyone having problems. I ordered this app on my new 2017 iPad. The index would not show dates. I deleted app, turned iPad off and reloaded twice and saw no change. Then my husband realized the app had also come up on his iPad and all was working correctly. I checked my iPhone and it, too, had the app and it was working correctly. But the index still wasn't loading on my app. I deleted it again, and one more time, and finally I got the index to load. So, all in all, it's working well and I like having the readings in one place. I'd give it 5 stars if I had not had so much trouble getting this set up.

I really like this app!! I initially had an issue with downloading this completely on my iPad,... the index wasn't loading the dates that link you to the various entries. But I emailed Mr. Coates, and he got right back to me and walked me through it. Essentially, I had to delete the app > download it again from the cloud in the App Store (without opening it) > power down > power back up > and open/install. Worked like a charm! Well worth the price to have the material so easily accessible.

I heard good things about this app but when I downloaded it and opened it, all the pages were blank. Tried everything including re loading to no avail. Waste of money.

A blank page that shows "Lectionary Index" at the top. That's the best you can do? Nothing else?? Useless app.

This is a blanket review for all of Jim’s apps. If you like this one, please consider looking at everything he has created. These apps are by no means perfect, but they are a good faith effort by an obviously devout Christian to share his gifts by creating apps that can assist others in worship and prayer. I had the good pleasure of sharing an email exchange with Jim and he assured me that he is working on getting his older apps updated. So I will wait patiently while he works to bring us something new. In the meantime, the current versions are entirely functional, if not always pretty, and do what they are meant to do. The rare glitch can be overcome by reinstalling the app, which is not really a big deal. If you’re looking to live a more reverent life, please support Jim by downloading this app, as it is reasonably priced and useful. Might I suggest for a future release, combining the 4 BCP apps into one single app so that the Sunday and Daily readings, as well as the Psalter and Prayers are all in one convenient place? You could charge $5.00 for it, which is about the combined price of the 4 individual apps, and I think it is a reasonable price to pay for an app that makes the Book of Common Prayer so accessible. I too feel ripped off. Only the psalms for the day come up, not any of the other readings. If it said that was all that was included, that would be different. But this app promises one place to find all of the lectionary readings for the day, and that is an absolute falsehood. I need a refund.

Thank you for a very easy to use app! As a busy mother and a nurse-midwife who is on call all of the time, this app enables me to be more consistent in my devotional life. Thank you, Mr. Coates, for your quick response & follow-up when I initially had a problem with installation!

I paid for the app downloaded it, installed it. It said it was downloading the database. I waited, it said done, I launched the app again and, page after page of nothing but headers. Looked around the app for a support email, and there are none. Came here to see if they had a support link and there isn't one anywhere. This guy just takes your money and if you have an issue, too bad. No support. Apple should reimburse me for this rip-off. Don't purchase until I have been helped, otherwise you're just supporting a rip-off. update: While clunky on installation and in finding app support, the app is working and therefore deserves better than one star, and is not a "Rip-off. Just be patient on installation and make sure it completes before anything else occurs.

Works flawlessly. Up pops the current daily office reading. You can use either NRSV or NKJV translations. I’ve been using this for a couple years, and cannot imagine going back to hard copy!

I've been successfully using this app for years with only the occasional issue that was quickly and easily resolved by a reinstall. I can't imagine starting, or ending, my day without it. I am so grateful for it!

This is an excellent ecumenical daily lectionary app. It is easy to read, easy to use, and I've had no issues with it. I highly recommend it if reading the daily lectionary is part of your routine.

Upon start up, I get a nice picture, it hangs 20 seconds, then crashes. Frustrating when you're trying to get in prayerful mind.

What a mess. Only the Psalms come up. No gospel or the other readings. Terribly designed.

This app does not display current dates. Thus not functional. I sent a Twitter message a week ago. Please respond immediately.

I am enjoying this app immensely and appreciate the hard work that went into producing it. Had a question before I purchased it and received an answer very quickly clarifying it. I especially like that I can see all the days so I can re-read something from prior days that spoke to me. Thanks so much for a GREAT app!!!

Exactly what I was looking for without the page turning, and perfect for a darker room with the backlighting of device. I appreciate that the app opens to the right date, translation, etc. Worth far more than the price.
